The Festival of Lights is running at this Florida state park and campers get in with no extra charge (thru 12/31/10). Besides the beautiful light displays, there is a "Gingerbread Village" of craftspeople teaching/creating, displaying, and selling their wares; the carillon bell tower playing Christmas tunes throughout the day and early evening and a small museum in the tower; the Stephen Foster ("Way Down Upon the Suwannee River" guy) museum; varying evening entertainment, and Santa Claus walking through the village and gift shop.
Comfortable campground adjoining the Suwanee River (which has the only Class 3 rapids in FL -- river is very low right now), and gracious, attentive campground hosts. All the rangers were great, and restrooms/bathhouse were very clean as well as all sites. Highly recommend this campground, especially when there are events going on in the park. Quiet and nicely situated sites too.
