Default 12 Volt Wiring Question Re: Lighting

I want to install a swatch or pendant lamp that will hang down over the dining table in our 2619. I intend to install a 12 volt socket in the ceiling where the lamp can be plugged in. I have seen advertised, 12 volt light bulbs that screw into regular 120 volt lamp fixtures. Can I just use a 120 volt lamp fixture without any modifications, such as different wiring? I have searched the internet for a suitable 12 volt lamp and can find none. Besides, the RV lamps I have seen are in the $ 75.00 range, more than I want to invest.

Thanks.

That would be fine. The only thing that has to be special to run on 12 volts is the bulb. Everything else can be regular equipment found on 120 volt lamp fixtures. No special switches, wiring, sockets, etc. required. As long as the 12 volt bulb fits, you're good to go. Just be sure you get the polarity right -- easy to check with a cheap multimeter.

You could easily make one for less than $15 at the hardware store. Buy a socket, appropriate wire, cigarette plug (or use some other connector...there are much smaller ones), and something as a shade. A galvanized bucket, terracotta pot, or basket may look cool depending on your flavor.

You don't need any modifications to the hanging fixture to use it.
Just plan for the clearance when you close up.

Here is a 12V CFL bulb for $9.00
