Question Hitch height?

Does anyone know what the hitch height, measured at the tongue with the trailer level is? I need to know this before I buy a ball platform.

Default Hitch Height

I have a 2005 3124KB and when level the height is 19" from the ground to the top of the ball.

But, remember these two things -

1. Our 3124KB came from the factory with the 2" lift allready installed - I think that the 2720's and the 2619's do not come with this lift unless you order it as an option or add it later - So if you do not have the lift kit then subtract 2".

2. This does not account for the tounge weight of your TM pushing down on the suspension of whatever type of tow vehicle you have - this can make a big differance as to what hitch you need to buy to make your rig level!!!

Hope this helps

Brad

Arrow Hitch

That's curious... My Tow Vehicle is a 97 Ford Explorer so any kind of drop hitch should be ruled out. That's why I was wondering because if I can get an accurate measure I can add an inch or two on the up side which will compensate for a loaded trailer and be able to keep the whole thing level.

Most ball mounts now a days come in an "L" shape allowing for moving up or down as needed. You do need a strong arm and a good sized wrench to do it but I'm sure any trailer shop has that.

Safe towing of any TrailManor with a '97 Explorer is going to require use of a Weight Distributing Hitch (WDH). All WDHs have a great deal of height adjustability...as Windbreaker notes, all you will need are a pair of very heavy duty wrenches and you'll be able to properly set the ball height to achieve a level trailer...after you use the WDH's spring bars to level the Explorer.

Arrow Wdh

See, I knew I'd find enlightenment if I sought after it in the right place. So, a WDH it will be...Any other trailering sage wisdom y'all would want to share with me would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the process of buying a 2003 3124KB. I've been pulling a Starcraft pop-up with my Durango (2001 SLT, 4.7, 3.73 axle) and the hitch height is 18 inches to the top of the ball. My salesman says the hitch height for this unit is 22 inches. Some information I have from years ago show that the 2 inch lift kit was standard in 2002 (and I assume forward to today). The trailer hasn't shown up yet at the dealer (long story) so I can't go measure it myself, so I have two questions - which is correct - 19 or 22? I tend to believe Brad (first response to this post), but his unit is newer and this post is 3 years old. Also, my draw bar has a slight drop to where the ball is mounted - about 2 inches - so if I turned it upside down and remount the ball, would that effectively solve my hitch issue?
Been a long time reader of the forum and have found much good information that has helped my decison, although I've known I wanted a TM since we bought the Starcraft - basicially a financial issue till now.
Thanks for all the tips and I look forward to being able to contribute some of my own learning experiences with my new (to us) rig!
Thanks
Alan

I have a 2004 that does not have a lift kit. However, the following post mentions a rumor about TMs sold new west of the Mississippi having the lift kit: http://trailmanorowners.com/forum/sh...ippi#post26908

Al-n-Sue,

My 2003 2720 did not come standard with a lift kit.....I think TM started adding that standard somewhere around 2006 or 2007.

You are talking about flipping your ball mount to make up the diffence in heights, which might work. But, that sounds like you are not using a WDH. You might want to consider one with the heavier tongue weights of a TM over your pop-up.
