First Camping Experiance in TM

We lost our awning :*( Storm came out of nowere and we couldnt get back to the campground in time before the wind took bend it all up.

Wow! That really hurts for a first trip experience We always struggle with leaving the awning out or not when we aren't in the campground. Weather surely isn't predictable and our awning on the trailmini doesn't have tie-downs or connections for the trailer (arms).

But the sunset picture is great

The pictures are great. And now you know first-hand why the general rule is never to leave the campground with the awning out.

But please please please learn how to shrink your pictures before you attach them (or link to them). At 1023 by 612, these are too big, as you can see. A much better size is 640x480. There are any number of handy one-click or two-click sizing tools. Take a look at the tutorial in the TM Technical Library for more info.

Similar happened to us when we had a tent trailer. Brief micro-burst hit the campground, and before we could get the awning down it was wrecked. If we had practiced taking it down quickly we might have saved it. We can do it pretty quickly now. But we rarely leave it up when we are gone.

Aw, so sorry!! Is the window cracked in the lower left hand corner of the sunset picture? If so, could hve been worse! Wow! These storms are brutal. Hope your insurance will cover replacement awning!!

We always tie with ropes and use stakes to anchor the legs. But also keep a close monitor on the weather forecast. So far the awning is doing great, we have had to put it up twice since leaving April 20th. It has done fine in gusts to 40 mph the way we anchor it. If the weather forecast is going to be much higher we roll it up.
