I got the low pressure connect on my TM as well, never used it. Mainly because I have a propane grill and a propane firepit, and for the length of tubing (12' x 2, as well as ~10') it was felt that the higher pressure propane would have an easier time getting to the end of that run than the low pressure.
I, too, use a "Y" adapter off the high-pressure side of the propane tanks, and that has proven to work well. I have honestly never plugged anything into the low pressure tap.
I think the only time I would use it, ever, would be with a catalytic type heater, and run the hose through the lower flap of the door inside. This would save me from needing another tap into the gas line. However, we never boondock, and my wife doesn't want to do cold-weather camping, so it's unlikely in the foreseeable future that we'll be in that circumstance.
