Ok to run bathroom fan all the time?

Hi all,
Just went out to real camping last weekend.
It was pretty cool but when the gray tank started to fill up it was time to go for us.
Anyhow I am wondering if it's ok to leave the bathroom fan on all the time. My wife complained the chemical smell from the toilet and the problem was solved when the fan was on.
Where is the fan located at?
