Question Condensation or Moisture under bed

Has anyone experience moisture, condensation or leaking under the bed in the TM? We just spent a week in New York with our new TM and it rained just about every day. We noticed moisture on the walls and on the sides where the bed sits the sheets were soaked.

Welcome to the forums!
Can you explain with more detail about the moisture? Was it running down the walls in a stream like a leak from the roof wall junction or was it more like condensation on the walls in the bed area?
It is not uncommon for moisture to appear on the walls and window areas where the bed is located. This is caused by numerous things, but the largest factor is the tenants! We put off quite a bit of moisture when we exhale and, dare I say it, when we sweat. Two people breathing in the small space of the bed area in the TM will cause the walls to condensate. The way to minimize this is using by ventilating with windows or the vent. Most likely the condensate from the walls migrated to the bed coverings and wicked the moisture to them.
The other possibility is you have a leak somewhere back there. The only leak I saw on my TM came down the wall in a stream of water from the ceiling. It was around a pencil lead size leak and easily identifiable.

I'm sure you will get a wealth of feedback on this problem.

Thanks. I think it is just condensation because it was drops of water along the edge of the roof around the whole bed area. I don't think it was a leak because we really did have a true leak at the front of the TM which I fixed.

Check this out at Camping World: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...id-system/6548

I don't think sweaty walls is just a Trailmanor problem, but probably across the board with smaller RVs.

We've been camping in cold, wet weather a few times where the walls condensed with enough moisture to dampen the edges of the rear bed. With 4 people in a small space like the TM, it's not unusual.

It got so bad a couple of times that we rolled up towels and put them at the bottoms of the walls around the outside of the bed. We were dry camping, so didn't have a/c to run a fan (and it was cold enough outside that we didn't want to open the windows).

It doesn't hurt to keep some old towels handy if you need to wipe down the walls when this happens. The thinner, the better; they take less time to dry out.

As previously stated, the condensation you are experiencing is common. We purchased a small dehumidifier and use it to control condensation. We place the unit on the floor near the refrigerator and let it run through the night.

This thread may be helpful; check post #4 for a link to the dehumidifier.

Even backpacking tents (and some others) will collect condensation from people's breath (we used to see it most mornings after a chilly night) -- lots of ventilation helps reduce this. I have yet to see it in the TM, but it's certainly possible under the right conditions.

We have winter camped in BC for the last two winters, and condensation under the mattress is a fact of life. We removed the vinyl backing form the mattress so it can breathe and not fill up with moisture (replaced with cotton fabric), and put raised plastic floor tiles (home depot, can. tire in canada) under it. We still get moisture and have to dry it weekly more or less, but the mattress is drier. Moisture also appears on the walls to some degree and a dehumidifier would definitely help.
We also built magnetic storm windows for two of the windows so far and they also seem to help reduce window condensation, FYI.
