My F150 drops approximately one and a half to two inches when the truck is packed and the trailer is attached, depending on the size of the load. When we camp at our local beach, which is only a 15 mile drive to the campsite, I don't use my WDH and I can feel alot of difference in the handling of the truck and the way it tows the trailer.
When I use the WDH and bring the truck up close to standard height the truck and trailer feel like one unit, very solid. Off road on fairly flat dirt roads I leave the WDH on and again, the difference in road feel is dramatic; however on rough roads I take it off so as not to break something with the dips, ruts and elevation changes.
When we're loaded up, I would guess that we are at 4,500 to 4,800 lbs (truck and trailer combined), which is less than half of what the truck is rated to tow, but I won't ever take a long trip without my Reese 800 lb WDH leveling me out.
