RV Toilet Paper
Can someone advise if it really matters whether you use regular toilet paper versus "RV toilet paper"? I've got a factory installed Thetford Cassette toilet that I haven't used, yet.

Yes it does. The rv paper breaks down faster and will drain out of your system better.

We use "White Cloud" (Walmart) in our house and TM. It received an excellent rating from Consumer Reports for its ability to break down in water, but is far more pleasant to use than the typical "RV" TP.
I also feel that the sludge created in black-water tanks from the failure of TP to break down is more of an issue for large (25+ gallons) tanks, rather than for cassettes or the Electra-magic.

Nope. Never used special paper, including in a fifth wheel. But, so to speak, it is critical to flush out paper when dumping the system, whatever your system is. IMO, this is true even for RV paper.

Scott single ply has had good reviews when used in RV's as well. I like it because it is strong and doesn't turn into "proctology" paper when in serious use

I have used both types and the RV type makes dumping the black water easier as the TP is disolved or almost disolved. I had the casette in my pop up and the more the TP is broken down the easier to dump the black tank regardless how use the toilet.

Nope, it really does not seem to matter. You can Google "RV toilet paper", and you will find that what matters is whether the TP breaks down well, given a little time in the water. The simple test is to get two canning jars, fill both with water, add a loose wad of TP to each, put the lids on the jars, give them a short shake. Set them down, and wait a while. Anything that breaks down is OK - anything that stays in a wad is not.
See, for example, this discussion on RV101.

Most, but not quite all, household TP works perfectly well. no need to pay through the nose for "special" stuff.

two jars and water and the paper,,, is so simple , its grt , tks bill...
for what it's worth, when we bought the 93 back in 2010,there was at least 12 4 packs of thedford paper in it, not like it goes bad, but works well and breaks down well, for the money, I probably not buy when I run out,, a yr or so down the road,,
