Default Shell Play (movement)

Well, I had much of this in a single thread, but after many visits and no replies, I assume that my original post was too long / overwhelming. So, I've taken the cue and am breaking up the contents:

When going over a bump at an angle (such that the camper is pitched from side to side -as each wheel goes up and over the bump) I get what seems to be significant movement of the shells (side to side). Is this normal, or does it suggest an adjustment is necessary?

Normal, I think. Remember, the shells are tied down against vertical movement by the center latches and the corner latches. But they aren't really tied down against horizontal movement.

If you take yours over a bump at less than a perpendicular angle of approach, does the front shell move laterally (enough that you notice it)?

Are you asking about my trailer in particular? If so, the answer is yes, I can see it move. In fact, if I push sideways on the shells, they will move a small amount. On the other hand, if I push fore and aft, or up and down, I don't believe there is any visible movement.

okay. I just thought it peculiar as I watch the trailer come down off the sloped curb at my house. Plus, with the obvious rub marks (some down to the aluminum) on the doorside, I was certain something was out of adjustment.
