Flooring options to replace carpeting; 2720
We’re planning to replace our flooring and remove all the ugly, “dust/dirt-magnet” carpeting. Hoping to get some advice on material options people have tried, if you are happy with your outcome and guidance on any unique issues you might have run into with the upgrade.
Cheers to all!,

We used sheet flooring and are very happy with the results, very easy to clean.

We did use vinyl sheet flooring for our TM , we made a template from carpenters paper and cut it 1 inch bigger for safety reasons , we didn’t want to come up short. It was a remnant from a local flooring shop here.

You might want to do a search of the Forum for something like "flooring". Folks have used almost everything you can imagine. Squares - strips - sheet goods - glue down - floating - interlock - wood - press-board - vinyl - patterned aluminum - and so forth. I think the only thing missing is ceramic tile and grout. You will also find a lot of info on how to remove the old stuff, clean up the bare surface, level it, install subflooring if needed, prime it, handle the baseboard and trim, work around the appliances (refrig especially) and more.
A big job, but everyone who has done it seems pleased.

Small area carpet
The TM I bought has an all wood floor. My wife and I found that we track little pebbles and pieces of sand into our bed. So this last trip I cut a piece of carpet off my extra from carpeting my house to put in front of the back bed to the start of the bathroom door. It worked beautifully cleaning off my feat before going to bed. Upon closing it up, I took the carpet outside and shook it. You are correct when you say the carpet collects dirt.

I have a vinyl flooring, but have three rugs so I don't have to walk on cold floors during the fall and winter camping. Giving them a-good shake out at the end of a trip works, til I get home a run a vacuum over them. They're small enough that I can was em when needed. My thought is to be happy with where ya live even when its a camper.

Thanks everybody for all the great info. I went digging around further on the forum last night (nod to Bill!) & it seems a bunch of folks have done this upgrade. Lots of useful facts and insights. I think I like the vinyl flooring option, mostly due to cost & of course the weight consideration.
