I'm sorry, I haven't taken it apart. I don't know if the fan sucks the stinky air or blows the stinky air into the tube and then out of the trailer through the roof. All I can tell you is that if you forget to turn on the fan there is a lingering sink. Turn the fan on and you don't notice it at all, not even while actively using the toilet. But the way, this has been done only with the windows closed.
