Even though my patching glue mostly worked, I went ahead and ordered the replacement faucet from Trailmanor anyway for $53 and installed it. Got the original replacement part, just to eliminate any possibility that the part size was not completely standard.
I don't know for sure if it was the cause, but I remember hearing a snapping sound when I closed up the bathroom one time. That could have been the start of it. Not being a plumber, plumbing problems spook me more than they should.. lol But thank goodness, as plumbing problems go, this is not a bad one to have.. lol.
