Default Frame resting point

The inside of the front shell has a strip that (I believe) rests on the rear shell when closed. The curbside is peeling off, but pressed back on and seems to have some adhesion left. Can you confirm what this piece does, and does the factory replace it or recommend to just reseal with caulk?

That strip is a weatherstrip that keeps dust and moisture out.

I would not use caulking. I would clean the W/S and the ceiling with a good degreaser, rinse well, let it dry. Then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol (75+%). Let it dry, then use a good double sided tape to secure the W/S.

Was that strip added? I don't have one of those, nor do I see any sign there was ever one. It looks like it was placed to meet up with the foam strip of the other shell and perhaps added when the foam started to compress.

Hi Larryjb, not sure I’ve only had it 7 months. It’s on a 2009 2720, and my guess is it’s a factory item.

Come to think of it, our 2009 didn't have that w/strip either.

Interesting, I guess I could do without it, but probably going to keep it there in event things have settled.

Found a couple pictures of my front 2619 shell. It's closed currently, but I seem to also have a trim piece. It might be a filler to prevent water from leaking in where the shells meet.
