To heat it, you could just soak it in a bowl/mug of boiling/very hot water for a few minutes. And then it should slide right out. Repeat to slide the new one in.

Or cut it.

You’d need to heat up the pipe to get the old one out.

Yep, and so you would want to use a deep container to go above the valve and over the pipe. A tin can perhaps, a tall glass, whatever. I've done it before.

A hair dryer as Bill suggested might also work.

Boil water in a container then put the valve and as much of the pipe as possible in the container of boiled water. 190*-200* is the perfect temperature.
