Unhappy Goodyear Marathon are still made in China

The following email is from Goodyear (not a Dealer or Distrubuter) and should finally settle all the talk about finding Marathon us made.

They are currently manufactured in China and have been for several years.

I appreciate the response but this did not answer my specific question, ARE
ANY OF THE ST225 75R15 MARATHON TRAILER TIRES MADE IN THE US? I have been
searching for these tires but unable to locate US produced tires even
thought some on the internet claim to have found them. Thanks again for
your prompt response.

Interesting -- I checked my Marathons and the have a DOT alphabetical code that wmtire indicated would be the MFG code and tire size.

First four characters are "MDHH" and by the info referenced here:

http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...03&postcount=5

and assuming I that i am reading the chart correctly,

The "MD" indicates that it was made at: THE GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY GADSDEN ALABAMA UNITED STATES

HH = my tire size

So now my question: can we believe the tire codes?

Tim

What is the date of their manufacture?

My old Marathons were also MDHH and made in 2009 (38th week).
My newer Marathons are 2VHH (China someplace) and made in 2010 (16th week).

So maybe they switched to a China plant around 2009-2010, "several years" ago?

Going from memory, middle of 2009, so they are coming up on 3 years old now.

Default usa marathons

I called Goodyear (800 321-2136), he verified my tires code (same as Barb and Tims) indicates tires made in Gadsden, Ala. They are also stamped "Made in USA". Barbara at Goodyear did not give the complete story (whatever it is!).

Default Not ALL of them are

I'm glad to see you are still with us, REBCAT!

Here is a picture of the new Marathon tire I bought last year. They were made in New Zealand (see sidewall).

CORRECTION TO ABOVE POST, by Virginia Deacon

Sorry, REBCAT! The picture is of the OLD tires that came on our TM when it was new (2006). The replacement tires I bought last year are made in CHINA, as you said.

Happy Camping!

Default Tires

I don't care where they are made. I will never buy another Good Year trailer tire!
8 blow outs are enough.
