Many people out there are in the same boat, towing with used TVs, bought without the optimum ratio for towing. The ratios were well thought out by the factory, and if buying a new TV, you can choose the best for your application, but when you buy used, you get what you get.
The reference to PU's was only done for clearer understanding by all, since PU's are way more popular and used by many for towing. (Oops....another post about PUs! Sorry Mr A.)

As I said in an earlier post, multiple rear axle ratios give manufacturers a way to extend their product lines. But if your transmission had the right gears for the right rear end ratio in the first place, your tow vehicle would have the ability to follow the engine power curve by changing gears instead of by changing axles.
Most of us would find this to be a more convenient solution. As we used to say about things like this in the software business, this is a bug that the marketing people have been selling to you as a feature.
