I am leaning more to the Cassette but wo0nder what is the real challenge for TM to put in a black tank and do it the "normal way"? Obviously they could do it if they wanted to, but have chosen not to for some reasons. Hopefully I will remember to ask them about that unless someone here already knows why.

As for the Cassette, is there any way to put it in so it can discharge through the pipe to the campground sewage hookup and not have to carry the tank?

No, you have to open the outside door and remove the cassette.

The regular way as you refer to it requires a roof vent and can't fold down I heard ?

One reason TM may not use a regular RV toilet and black holding tank is weight and configuration issues. With the gray tank taking up as much room as it does not sure if a black tank could be mounted in front of the axel. And certainly would add weight if it was of any meaningful size. That is the reason most airplanes use recirculating toilets I think.

I asked them about this when I was at the factory. They focused only on the vent pipe as their submissions to RVIA were not approved. I left thinking they would find a way to make it work if a solution on the vent pipe was developed. We need to help them find a way to do it as it would be wonderful for everyone.

We have had two camper with a normal RV toilet, one with the Cassette and now the TM with recirculating.

By far we preferred the Cassette. So nice to use and and you can dump in any toilet. Very easy and clean dumping operation. If the toilet begins to fill up you pull out the sealed Cassette and take it to the restroom and dump it. You don't need the blue tote. It also is very easy to clean when putting it to bed for the winter.

I decided to remove my toilet and go with a cassette and am glad I did. My only regret is I bought the largest one and it does get heavy, but I won't go back to the original toilet.

I am rather enjoying the technicality of this thread...have not got a clue as to what is really going on...My Cabin A (Aliner TT)lost sewer lines on the way to Maine a couple of years ago. Bottom line was that they could not find a black water tank as these were special made for the Cabin A and even Aliner did not have any in stock...so we straight piped it.
My solution since nothing solid goes into my toilet (never has) unless an emergency, is now I use a leaf and lawn bag and only use the camper potty at night.. This bag is treated similar to a cassette and dumped and thrown away daily.

My toilet down right stinks in the TM. The previous owner made a vent next to the sink. I run the fan. I used the chemical with formaldehyde (which I am deathly allergic to, turned the bathroom fan on and could not breathe that night and my face looked burned, luckily I was home opened all the windows the next day, turned on the ceiling vent fan in the main part of the camper Jon put in and added another fan), still it stinks, it has enough water.

We do not have a sewer clean out in the yard, or I would flush and flush and flush and dump. I need to take this to a campground with sewer hookups to do this.
Jon, volvofan also said if you pulled the little handle before opening the outside valve, sewage flowed through onto the floor...he thinks it may need a new seal. Goodie, with RV tech rated at $125/ hr and me being not technically inclined and my husband just not able to do things like this...in fact I had to figure how to get the spare tire cover off...he could not... At MCDill last year there was a man with a truck who charged $65 per hour to come on site...may have to just wait til we get down there this winter if it leaks into the bathroom when trying to empty.
Bottom line fellows, keep up the good work, even if you loose me, there are others who can follow along.

To dry camp we use a 30 gallon portable tank so I have to make sure we are close to a dump station if we camp more than a week.

Me being a newbie and If I wanted to put in a regular foot flush type, doesn't that require a black water holding tank ? or is there one in the TM 2720SD is the model I am talking about. I am sure I will have more questions the more I read these post. thanks

Kidkraz,
Hope this does not sound too stupid, but when you replaced the OEM toilet with a cassette type, did or how did you close off the original opening in the floor to the drain pipe? any pics would be appreciated as well.
