A common problem is spider webs. Yes, the little guys like these enclosed yet open places to build a home. The webbing causes just enough back pressure on the gas to push it out of areas we don't want it to go out, and cause fires. I had a grill nearly burn down my back porch, etc. from this. After turning off the tank the fire stopped immediately. I opened things up and found the web and a quick pass with a small bottle brush solved the issue. Mentioned this to the person at the place that fills my tank, he pointed to an article taped to his counter top specifically about this! I now run the brush through my gas burners on the camper (stove and fridge and hot water tank) as part of my spring cleaning. Takes another 5 minutes to get them all.

If it was a bad enough problem you would think that there should be a recall?

You see recalls for tires and appliances in our trailers, but rarely (if ever?) for any issues with the trailer itself.

Ok, this is scary. I just bought a 2007 2619. First time ever to own any camper. Not particularly knowledgeable. Obviously I will check things, best I can, per the pointers in this thread. But wondering if the dealers/shops offer a propane system check ?

First thing I would do is a soapy water test. Turn on the propane and brush or spray dish soap/water mixture on all fittings and connections. Leaks show up as bubbles. If it's a fitting, tighten them very gently, they are usually compression fittings and can be damaged from overtightening.

There are electronic propane detectors available, but a soap test can be just as effective. If you check everything and still smell propane, then it's time for a professional to get involved.
