You can get some more room by unbolting the tongue jack
and rotate it.

No help for some of us. Like BenjBurton, I have an F-150. The tailgate hits the top of the jack, not the handle.

True but on some jacks (especially electric jacks) the head of the jack is forward of center. It can be rotated 120* and gain quite a bit. I had to do that to get my t/gate to open all the way.

Another option is to get a swing-away jack. I had one on one of my TrailManors.

Wavery -
I'm unclear on how this helps if the tailgate hits the top of the jack
The swing-away jack maybe makes more sense. But it looks like it would interfere with the WDH brackets. And does it still work if your trailer does not have the cubby in the front wall? I can't quite tell from the photo. The cubby disappeared many years ago.

If you only needed a few inches of extra clearance, and you had this style of tongue jack, this makes sense. However, I think I'd need at least a foot to make it work.

When I said the tailgate comes down on the TOP of the jack, this is what I meant. I guess some trucks have a bigger tailgate than others, but no amount of tweaking is going to help this situation. And the side-mount jack would interfere with the swing-tongue hinge.
