We use the Harbor Freight Item #45891 at home -- way too heavy for the TM -- IMO.

I have been thinking about using the Item #93575 or #94985 for the TM, for the same reason as Tom -- just haven't decided on where to put one yet.

Folks,

1. MisterP...I had forgotton about that space under the driver's side bench ahead of the water tank. That may be the answer.

2. Countrygirl...The problem with those clocks and picture frames is that they are only hiding places...and the bad guys know all about such devices. Hiding stuff in books is one the first places they look. Another problem is that they are not secure. I have grandkids and you should NEVER have a firearm where a kid might get to it. (I realize that you probably already know this but just in case) In most states it is now a felony if a kid gets to an unsecured firearm and hurts himself or someone else. Quite aside from that, it would be horrible to be associated with such an event.

3. Wayne, thanks for the link.

4. Tim, I use something very similar at home too. The standard tool for a burglar is a short pry bar or big flat bladed screw driver. Many lock boxes made out of sheet metal can be defeated by such tools. Boxes like we use are 1/4" thick or so, and can withstand a pry bar.

5. A fire safe is not a very good "safe". It protects from heat, but anyone with a hammer and a good punch can open it.

Again, thanks to all for the good ideas.

Tom

Not only that some use the same key every RV in the campground uses to access storage.

Other than the TM and truck, the most expensive items we carry are the Honda generator plus the ATVs and motorcycles.

My wife leave all of her jewelry at home.

We never take a trip longer than a week. And camped in a forest we don't see a lot of people.

If I had a reason to stay in a RV park I would just keep it in the truck. It at least has an alarm system which would help with theft a little.

I would never take my office laptop because it is owned by my employer and I do not have all of the data encrypted. Industrial espionage would be a big risk for me if I took it.
