Upgrading the furnace thermostat

WalMart still has the same model thermostat for the same price. I bought one an installed it this weekend. It fit in the same place as the original t'stat, and worked like a charm. Much easier to see thanks to large LCD numerals. Easy to install too - a worthwhile upgrade in my opinion. Thanks for the tip commodor47!

You are welcome. Glad to hear the installation went without any problems. There is one thing to keep in mind: it is real important to set the heat switch to off before closing your unit. Otherwise the thermostat will start the heater fan (even though your propane tanks are turned off) which will run continuously. Had that happen to us once because the thermostat was switched on to the heat mode and set for 68 degrees. You can turn the heat setting all the way down (I believe it can be set down to 45 degrees) which should prevent the furnace fan from coming on. To be on the safe side I always make sure the thermostat heat switch is in the off position before closing the unit.
