I would agree... We are winter camping in Sedona this week and when we retire for the night, the mattress is cold. We have added an electric flannel blanket placed on the sheets to warm up the topside.

Since most shore power pedestals have a 15A 110V circuit as well as the 30A trailer plug, it is just as easy to run an extra HD 15-25 ft extension to the pedestal. Just enter the TM through the corner of any of the pull down flaps between shells. This way you don't have to worry about turning things off.

One has to be careful if you add and leave some insulation under the mattress - I added half inch closed cell foam - then you are even more limited as to what you can leave on top of the mattress when you close down.
I like the idea of an electric blanket- not sure my foam does a lot although if nothing else it is light and adds a little bit of an extra cushion.
Have fun!

We use an inflatable mattress, so height is not an issue, but insulation is! We also found a heated mattress pad, which really helps as the heat source is under us. And the bed is toasty warm when we go to bed!

Default Winter camping

We are breaking camp this morning. We've been in Sedona since Dec. 18. Average temps in the high 40's by day and 30's at night. First day in the 50's yesterday. Dry and cold but we have enjoyed our time here. Rode our motorcycle 7 of the 10 days. Day trips to Cottonwod, Jerome, Montezuma Castle, and the Grand Canyon South Rim. TM has perforrmed very well. Furnace heat, small ceramic heater and an electric blanket to warm the king bed mattress. Thetford has been very functional. Many of the our campground neighbors decorated their RV's with holiday lights including our TM. We are heading to Santa Fe today till Fri. Then head for home in Houston by Saturday. Two weeks in the TM. Fantastic....

Glad you had a GREAT time, we moved to Az. in 1995 from Chicago so I know what you are talking about. 340 days of sunshine a year and would never think of going back to Chicago to live. We will be camping in 2 weeks here, no snow...

Default More winter camping

Thanks Scott, we broke camp in Sedona yesterday morning and made our way to Santa Fe. Very cold here with lots of snow on the ground in the campsite. Set up last night about 9pm. Got the heaters working in about 20 min. 25 degrees overnight with a high today of 45. Tomorrow we head for Houston.

Dave (aka Scottie Dogs) lives near Phoenix. It is quite a bit warmer in Phoenix than it is in Sedona.

Well, it was last year around this time.
