I'd like to buy a hideaway spot in east TN or west NC. Sparse population but good cell (3G/4G/LTE) coverage and reachable with 2WD. Nice view, trees, power available a plus.
Any suggestions ?

Haven't you heard the unending (and obnoxious) series of radio ads for "bank owned lakefront property just north of Knoxville, TN, for just pennies on the dollar"? The original website was TNLAKES.NET, starring a clown named Jim Mackrey, but apparently they have moved on, as the web site no longer exists. There are others, touting land around Norris Lake (gorgeous), and other lakes in the area. Bank-owned, foreclosed for pennies on the dollar! And of course you can always go to the site that advertises "incredible Georgia mountain waterfront lots, with views of the Atlanta sky line."
'Scuse me? Do I want that?
Lots of land out there in the southeast, and apparently a lot of it at bargain basement prices. All of it just waiting for you.
Bill

Agree just was hoping to get a local pointer on what is real and what isn't. Growing up in Florida we used to run a lot of autocrosses and road races in developments that went bust. Know the best way is to come up there (between 500 & 600 miles) and take a look but would appreciate pointers in where to start.
Don't listen to the radio, I have over 500 (and climbing) albums on microSD cards & avoid anyhing on TV that has commercials.
