AC question 2005 2720

So I believe I have the Colman Mach AC on my roof.

Noticed a slight leak. I would like to take care of it before it turns into a bigger issue.

First can anyone explain to me why TM installed a riser box (not sure what to call it? Or its technical name) And then installed the ac box over that? However seems like the brick molding they used to create that ac box has cracked letting some water in. So I would need to remove the AC and then remove the the lower riser box and rebuild a new brick mold.

Any threads of anyone replacing the Colman Mach AC on this site I could look at?

A picture of the crack would help. Chances are, it could be repaired with calking or Eternabond tape.

The AC unit is on a riser so that be it doesn’t protrude into the living space below the ceiling which would significantly impact your headroom.

As soon as I get back in there I will snap a picture... that makes sense. It would be impossible to fold the TM if the ac hung down I guess.

So the Crack is vertical on the riser back part of the hole. So it's deeper to get to. Wpuld be pretty challenging getting any tape back there and sealed properly. To make things worse the electrical connections run through this area very close to the back riser brick mold and I don't want to burry it behind tape and such.

A while back someone here was replacing the riser/spacer due to it being damaged. They ended up using PVC, and used pvc plumbing glue to make the frame. I can't seem to find the specific discussion, but it worked. I'll keep searching. If you search either riser or spacer in appliance's you'll find some good info with pics.
