Default Swimming Pool

This is really an off topic, but you guys are so smart I thought I would give it a try, we just had our swimming pool deck redone, an in ground pool, here's the problem, how does one get the dried concrete off the pool steps, they duck taped everything but the steps, now it has speckled concrete on it. Anyone got any ideas.

???

If the spots haven't been on the steps for very long, try washing with a mixture of water and muriatic acid. I recommend that you test it first in an area that isn't so visible.

What are your steps made of? If it is something hard, rock, concrete, or gungrete. just chip it off. If plastic try just stepping on them there maybe enough give that most of it will just pop off.

If you use the muriatic acid don't forget to adjust your ph afterword or you may end up with a lot of algie.

The steps are made out of hard vinyl, I've been just picking and flicking it off, its only been on their a couple of days, had our steps been smooth it would have been easy but ours has indentions in them. We'll try your idea
and see what happens.

I didn't realize that the steps were not concrete. I therefore change my recommendation about the muriatic acid. I have never used it on anything but masonry and feel that it could damage your vynal steps. Please, I hope you read this before you use muriatic acid.

Sue, can you get to the bottom of the steps or are they enclosed? If you can get to the bottom of the step, try hitting with hammer. The vibration should lossen the concrete.

They are enclosed, but a new liner goes in this week, I could cut the old one to get to the bottom, but this is small bits here and there. I guess we could have a pool party and have everyone bring a knife and give a prize for the one who chips the most.

Sue,
Seeing the steps are a hard plastic, you may consider repainting them. There is a new Krylon paint called fusion. I believe it comes in about 30 different colors and is designed to adhere to plastics.

I recently took the plastic tire cover, painted it with a white fusion and then used an overhead projector to draw our family crest on the cover. After painting the crest, I clear coated it. I loved the way that the fusion worked.

Just for your consideration.
