Adjustable shelves for the wardrobe
My dear wife wanted to re-purpose the wardrobe for a pantry and/or bedding and such. I wasn't really ready to permanently commit to the change so I made these adjustable shelves.
I made a simple jig for my drill press and used 1 1/2" forstner bit to drill the uprights. These were mounted without glue to the front and back corner pieces on the right and left sides of the wardrobe using wood screws. I then rounded off the ends of 1x2s so that I can slide them between the uprights at the height my wife requests. The shelves were cut to fit and notched out at the corners to fit without gaps.
Pictures are shown before sanding and finishing (which I might get around to in the next few weeks).

Pure genius!
I might suggest a small block added just above each notch on the far side will prevent the shelves from falling out of place when the "pantry" is tipped down when collapsing.

Great idea Larry! We don't seem to have problems with the shelves, however, since we pack it up with compressed pillows and light blankets to keep the weight down. We now stack them up along with the side support pieces on the bottom since the supports fall out when the cabinet is in the travel position.
Depending on our satisfaction with the changes over the next several trips, I might look to make the shelves more permanent. Your suggestion would be helpful in this case.

That looks great! We put some in but left room on the right side for hanging shirts & things that we didn't want to fold. Yours looks so perfectly done!

We did the same thing with our wardrobe. We used the metal rod type shelves
(closet stuff). Great for holding the kitchenware, dry foods and towels.
