Default Fulton swing away hitch

Does anyone know if it would be possible to use 2 of these Fulton (model number HDPB350101) bolt on swing away hitches to create a removable tongue on my 3023 2007 Trailmanor?

I would weld a steel c channel stabilizer piece between the front members to form an A frame and reinforced slightly with expanded metal. Trailer side I would also weld a c channel cross member to aid stabilization when the tongue is disconnected.

Still in the developmental stages.

Thoughts?

I doubt that thing would handle the the shock loading of a 400# trailer tongue.

Building a replica of the TM swing away tongue would be really easy if you know how to weld.

Default Rated to 9000#

They are rated to 9000 lbs. and are used as a single swing away mounts for boat trailers.

I can weld but am no master welder. So I’m looking for a way to ensure that the point of contact is as strong as possible.

That’s for a stick tongue not an A-frame. Might be rated to PULL 9,000lbs but tongue weight is a whole different game.

Default Unsure of tongue weight

I’m not sure I understand about tongue load. They indicate these should be able to take 680 lbs per unit at 36” which is my cut length.

Is there an issue where on the tongue the load or stress occurs?

Default Trying to repurpose for a Trailmanor

I know that is what they designed it for. I was hoping that the 3 x 5 sized latch could be repurposed for my use.

It should fit the frame members. Would that give me a point to use lynchpins to make a removable tongue?
