Default Curtain tabs Question

We are making new curtains and wondering if anyone has done this. We are using the old curtain tab strips on the new curtains. Question is do you have to have the tabs on the bottom track or just let them hang free? Is this an issue when closing the TM? Will the curtains be OK if not attached to the track?

We have started removing the curtain from the bottom track, makes opening and closing less hassle. Haven't noticed any problems with closing or opening.

I have made only one panel to replace a half a curtain. I reused the curtain glide tape (which is the older style on my 2007 TM) and this past week I removed that panel because the curtain glide tape did not hold up.

I spent a few hours one weekend trying to find the perfect window treatment. I am beginning to think that it may be a Roman shade.
