Talking 12$

definitly would be the best 12$ spent. i bought a used 2720 from an estate sale for my uncle who took it to alaska . when i bought it i wasn't even interested in a camper but when i saw the room and ease of towing it i convinced my wife we needed to get one . so the search began. i located one in mass. in good shape 3023 model 2005 yr and have been learning all about them here. so if you have one or are looking at one this would be the best 12$ spent hands down

I am a member, lets me sign in, lets me make new posts, Buuut if I try to click on a quick link in side someone elses post, about half the time I get a you can not access message also so being a paid up member will not necessarily answer all your problems.

Robert -

Half the time? That's a lot. When it happens, it usually means that the link has been copied-and-pasted. That won't work. Why? The long answer is that sometimes a link is quite long. To improve the appearance, the software removes a bunch of characters from the middle of the link, and substitutes a short series of dots. The software stashes the characters that were removed, and when you click the link, it puts them back and the link works. But when the link is copied, it is the dots themselves that are copied, not the text behind them - and the link with the dots isn't correct, and doesn't work.

Aren't you glad you asked? It is actually a little more complicated than that, but the basic idea is correct. Let me try an experiment (below) to illustrate.

Default Experiment#1

Here is a new post, and I included a link to a post in the TM Technical Library.

http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?t=19302

This link works as desired. Note that the text of the link contains dots. When clicked, it takes me to a thread in the Tech Library, as desired.

Default Experiment#2

1. First, I quoted the post directly above, the one titled EXPERIMENT#1.

This link works as desired. Note that the text of the link contains dots. When clicked, it takes me to a thread in the Tech Library, as desired.

2. Then I went back to EXPERIMENT#1 again, highlighted the link, copied it onto my clipboard, and pasted it here.

http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?t=19302

The link now appears in three places. It looks the same in all three, each one containing the dots. But the original link works, and the link in the quote works, but the copied-and-pasted link does not. The copy/paste operation copied the dots, but not the stashed characters they represent.

3. The lesson here is:

* * * WHEN CREATING A POST, DO NOT COPY/PASTE A LINK INTO IT. * * *

I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Bill
