I'm not sure, but I think the same thing happened to me also. My seat/lid attachment broke it's connection to the toilet. It's just a small piece of plastic with a screw going into it that holds it together, and the plastic broke. I fixed it with a nut and bolt bypassing the whole thing. I'll send pics if you want.
