Battery switch for 2720
I just purchsed a used 2006 model 2720. I'm going to be busy for a while fixing her up. First project is going to be wiring up some sort of disconnect switch onto the battery and replacing battery as well. I would like to have a disconnect switch outside of the battery box for ease of access. could anyone please recomment any brand. I will also need to know how to wire it. is it simple to wire? thanks

A 2720 has the battery on the tongue, so the switch will be up front as well. It will need to be protected from the weather, but I think someone on this board has done it. HarveyRV, maybe? Again, a Search will help.

It was harveyrv, I don't remember the thread but seems to me it was mounted in an electrical utility box mounted to the battery box.

If you have a battery box, you can mount in top of box. Just wire in series with the positive terminal. Mine uses switch below. The red handle is removable to prevent tampering. While you are working in the area, I recommend replacing the glass fuse holder with an automotive blade style holder and a 30 amp plug in breaker. By using the plug in option you can alwas use a standart fuse if the breaker dies in a remote location.

Thats the fuse holder. wire switch as (+ post) -------(switch)-----------TM power. Not in neg leg. back of switch (terminals) are exposed so needs to be mounted on an enclosure of some sort. See description Saltwater proof. You can check it out at any good marine supply store.

I wouldn't use the blade type fuse either, they tend to get hot under high current loads. I prefer just the breaker.

I mounted the switch in a weather resistant electrical box under the floor of the TM.
I am pretty sure I posted pictures.
I am too lazy to look myself up. Look for post by me. It may be as far back as 2005, when I jointed TMO.
I use a switch to control two batteries. I can choose either one, noe or both in parallel.
