2006 3023 Outside Shower Compartment
I need the key to our 2006 3023 outside shower compartment. I tried one that was suggested and it didn't work.
Any help is appreciated... I'd hate to have to replace the entire assembly.
TIA

To remove the old lock, of course you have to remove the entire compartment from the side of the TM. Just cut the caulk around the compartment and remove the screws. This gives you access to the inside of the compartment door, so you can remove the old lock, and replace it with the new one. Then clean up the old caulk, remount the assembly, and re-caulk. Annoying, but not hard.
My personal suggestion is to buy a non-locking latch, so there is no key to lose. I'm not sure why the shower compartment is locked. No one is likely to sneak up to your TM, quietly open the compartment door, and steal your shower head. But that is your choice.

You have to open the door to remove the screws. I just replaced mine on my 02. If you want the old box with the key, I can send it off for the price of shipping. I would take it to a locksmith and see if they would open it and make a new key.

Hmmm. I've done this, but I don't recall the details. Perhaps something has changed since 2002.
Locksmiths can be incredibly expensive if you want them to open a lock without a key. I found this out when I accidentally locked us out our son's condo. After this happened, he hid a duplicate key outside - something that is a good idea with TM keys.

If you drill out your lock, I can take this lock out and send it to you with 3 keys. I'm pretty sure shipping would be under $5.

you could get a cheap lockpick rake and open it yourself. These locks wouldn't be anything complicated so it should be easy to open it and then you can just replace the lock.

I've never tried to use a rake. Does it work well on lock that takes a double-sided key?

I have a 2013 2417 and 2 rear storage compartments and the outside shower are all keyed alike and are CH751. PM me and I'll send you a key (they are single-sided). I have a couple spares. You can also walk into any camper parts dept and they have them on the rack for a couple bucks. And Bill is right...no need for this door to have keyed lock...just a way to keep it closed before you drop the lid.

My key is also CH751. I wonder how common that is.
