Default 2 12 volt batteries?

I'm thinking of buying a used 2720, but concerned when the owner said he bought 2 new 12 volt batteries. I said "12 volt?, most people put in 2 6 volt" He said the 12 volt batteries were cheaper. Could he have messed things up with too much voltage?

No, i run 2 batteries and have for years, as long as they were installed correctly he only has 12 volts , not 24. Some use 6 volt wired to get 12 volt some use double 12's to get 12 volts😀😀

Rather than redraw and re-post the diagram, you can see it here in my Tech Stuff Album.

I like the 2-12v Battery option better then the 2-6V battery option. Only because, I like the contingency plan if one one battery fails, you can disconnect the bad battery and still limp along on one. Where with 6V's, you don't have 12V when one battery fails.

I like multiple 12V batteries because when they are old and not real great for the trailer, they can be used at hunting camp until they get old enough to be total garbage.

It depends on the size of the 12v batteries & whether marine/deep cycle or passenger car. Going for "cheap" could mean a neverstart 34.

Agree backup is nice. I have solar, a generator, a jump box, and worst case the TV.
