Generator recommendations

I just bought a 2720 Trailmanor. For the past three years I have owned an Aliner Expedition. I use a Honda 2000eu generator to power the fullt equipped Aliner. I have been told that the 2000eu will not be adequate for the Trailmanor, mainly because of the larger A/C unit.

I am asking for recommendations as to what generator I should get. Brand and output recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

If you still have the Honda, give it a try. At lower altitudes the 2000 may well run the TM. If not, you could add a 2000 and together the Hondas should do the trick with ease.

The other advatage of the 2000s are their size. They both may fit in the storage on a 2720. If it were a 3124 you can stow the larger gensets (like the Yamaha 2400).

If you no longer have the 2000, try looking at the Yamaha 2400is. They are powerful enough to run the a/c and are man portable, if you are not lugging it too far. It only costs a few hundred more than the 2000...

If you do get the second Honda, make a companion model. It has a built in 30 amp fused outlet. Takes up less space than the Honda parallel converter. You give up the 12 VDC battery charging outlet as a tradeoff.

All kidding aside, you really should look at the 2000 with the 30 amp connector built in. It is a far smarter/better deal for you.

I am not sure since it has been a long time since I looked at a 2720. You MAY be able to stow both gensets in the storage under bed. I am not sure since I don't remember how deep the storage is...

Actually, sorry for the typing mistake. I have been trying to transition from typing with my feet, to using my hands, but I sometimes make mistakes.

I can remember 1 or 2 times in the past 5 years that I made a mistake.... I don't remember the others.

Fess up. It was that dog that was doing the typing. Everybody knows just how dumb he is: he doesn't name his files consistantly, never makes backups, and drools in the keyboard...

I could store a Honda EU1000 in the back storage area of my 2720SL, though I would have to remove some other stuff to do it. I MIGHT be able to store an EU2000. I am real skeptical about getting a pair of EU2000s in there.

I have carried my Honda 2000 inside the TM. I have never had a problem doing that. The fuel system is well sealed, so there has never been any odor.

Not sure what would happen if it tipped over on to its side for an extended period of time. But I almost always have it empty while towing.

One thing to remember when trying it with the AC is to make sure the battery is charged. If the charger is trying to recharge a low battery it will suck some of the available current away. My battery charger has adjustable current and I do have to lower it after a night of boon docking and then plugging the trailer in while trying to use a hair dryer. It will hold for a couple minutes but then the EU2000 will go into overload.

On a seperate note I heard a couple Yamaha 2400 while at Yosemite this past weekend and they seem quieter than my EU2000 when under just battery charging load. I was impressed.
