Question 3124kb

I'm looking at the 3124KB. My roommate and I sleep in separate beds so this one looks like it meets our needs perfectly.

Just looking for information from some 3124KB owners as to how they like their TM, how easy/hard it is to open/close, do they have two fridges or only one, and if two - how do you like that. I have so many questions I'm just looking for information on ONLY the 3124KB. Also, how does it tow? I have a 2017 Toyota Tundra Double Cab with a tow package (rated at 6800 lbs.) but it is only a rear-wheel-drive.

Thanks in advance,
Lindee

3124 can be had with two fridges if you order that option specific from the factory. Someone on the TM Fans Facebook page has one like that. They love it. If I ever figure out how to transform my 3326 from KS to KB, it will have two fridges.

Also note, I think the floor plan is incorrect on the TM website for the 3124KB. I believe it now has the same dinette/bed configuration as the other models, no longer has the one longer couch.

As for the weight distribution hitch, I tow a 3326 with a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. Does it NEED a WDH? No not really. But it goes oh so much nicer with the Andersen No-Sway WDH. I highly recommend that one. Again, a bunch of us have that WDH on the Fans page and we all love it. I’m not familiar with the Tundra’s towing numbers but you may be pushing the tongue weight limits of the hitch without a WDH.

Thumbs up Thanks thus far!

Shane826,

Thank you so much for your information (especially about the WDH by Andersen).

Shane826 my Tundra's Payload is 1600 lbs. with a max trailer weight of 6800 lbs. It is true that my roommate and I are a bit hefty (LOL) but I don't think we'll overload the truck even WITH a trailer, especially a TM because they are so light!

I am hoping to hear from some folks who actually own and pull a 3124 though so I'll keep this thread active.

Thanks again,
Lindee

Right but your actual hitch may have different limits with or without a WDH.

Default 2022 3124kb

We have a 2022 3124KB.
Given the choice of the longer couch or the 2nd refrigerator, I prefer the longer couch. Ours was probably the first build with the longer couch and the last with the Thetford toilet. I had to add some additional supports to the couches to keep them from being damaged. Not a big deal, $20 dollars in lumber to prevent them from being damaged.

If your tow vehicle does not have it, you will have to add an electric brake controller to your tow vehicle. Get a proportional brake controller.

We had to get the 2.5 inch lift kit to keep our 3124 from bottoming out on our driveway. Without it, the RV scraped on the front and back at the same time. This is more of a problem with the 3124 than the shorter versions.

We purchased custom toppers and sheets for the beds from mattressinsider.com
[52" x 82" x 2" Brookside Memory Foam Topper with Quilted Organic Cotton Cover
80" x 82" x 2" (84x82x2 would have been better)

When the Trailmanor is closed the smaller topper can remain on the bed. The larger must be rolled up and pulled off of the larger bed.

Smile Thanks

I'm glad you like your 3124KB! Wish you were closer so we could take the royal tour of it.

Silly question but, do you think you could live aboard this trailer full-time?

Thanks,
lindee

kjfatl- I didn’t realize they went back to the long couch layout? I know more than a few people were requesting to go that way, since it adds another bed and leaves a walkway to the front bed.

I don't think I would want to live in the TM. I enjoy things like a washing machine and dishwasher. We like the TM for 2 main reasons: It fits in our garage so we do not have to pay to park it somewhere else. It is light enough that we can tow it with a vehicle we already own. That said, I can see doing a 2 or 3 month road trip at some point in the future.

Default I have 2022 3124KB with two refrigerators

I recently purchased a 2022 3124KB that came with the optional 2nd refrigerator, plus a lot of the other available options (low profile A/C, awning, HD TV antenna w/ amp, rear bike receiver, 100 watt solar panel, outside connection for gas grill, large and small hanging cabinets plus the extra "Microwave" drawer, hanging TV mount, radio with Bluetooth). I tow it with a Kia Telluride with factory tow package, and it tows really well, although I just now purchased an Anderson 3326 No-sway weight distribution hitch for added safety should I ever be forced to brake hard or change lanes quickly. I love having two refrigerators, we use one for bottled water/drinks and the other for food. The awning works great, very easy to set up. We streamed a lot of music over the radio, the speakers above the rear bed have decent enough sound, great for when we sit at the dinette playing games. The HD TV antenna picks up lots of channels, I hang a 32" TV on the bathroom wall above the sink, which is a great viewing location for the dinette and the rear bed. Be aware that there is a small, hard-to-see black button beside the dinette that switches between HD antenna input and cable input, at first I thought my TV antenna wasn't working. We are using the large hanging cabinet above the stove for disposable plates/bowls/cups/utensils, and the small hanging cabinet above the sink for dish cleaning supplies/Kleenex/TV control/spare glasses. We love the standard exterior hand-held shower, great for rinsing dirt off. I added a 2" memory foam topper to the rear bed (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MRL0H2B trimmed to fit) and a pillowtop pad to the king bed (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GIRZEG), which made both beds exceptionally comfortable. The dinette bed is also comfortable, according to my son's friend. Overall, my family loves our new camper.

I didn't realize that the two hanging cabinets were interchangeable. We mount the small cabinet over the stove to keep it clean (cooking grease, etc), and the large one over the sink.

My TM is not available for inspection at the moment, or I would check for myself. Can anyone tell me if the cabinets can be swapped in the smaller (i.e., 2720) South Dakota-built models?

Bill
