Default Replacing roller on slide

I've figured out at least one of the reasons the front slide is so difficult to move on our newly acquired 2004 2720SL. One of the front corner rollers is missing (the one against the far wall, closest to where the chair normally is). I assume I can get a replacement roller from the factory, but how do I go about getting under there to install it?

I also noticed that the rubber strips on the tongue that the slide rests on when in the closed position have a fairly well defined 'crush zone' about halfway through their depth where the slide sinks down into them. Is this normal?

Thanks.

I don't have a slideout, but on my 2619 there is quite a bit of wear on the rubber bumpers that the bottom of the front shell rests on, when the trailer is closed.

It's on my list of stuff to get from the factory, when I remember to call.

The roller is a standard heavy-duty caster available from Home Depot, etc. HD carries two casters of the correct size. Be sure to get the heavy-duty one (black wheel) rather than the light-duty one (white wheel).

If I recall correctly, to get access to the rollers, you pull the slide out all the way out, and simply jack up the front edge with a bottle jack under a hunk of wood. It isn't hard to get at.

Your best bet may be to raise the slideout, remove one of the existing casters, and take it to Home Depot to be sure of getting a match.

Default couple of pics.....

.......from when I was replacing carpet with tile flooring.

In the first pic the slide is halfway out. The underside of the slide was jacked up with 2 scissors jacks, allowing easy access to the rollers.

The second pic is is from inside with the slide completely extended. Either way, by jacking the slide, the rollers are easy to access.

It is normal for the rubber bumpers to get wallowed out at their point of contact, mine were that way so I deceided to replace them, sorry that I did, now I have to fight with the corner latches to get them to engauge, and I'm worried that too much force will be exserted on the latch clips, thinking about getting my router and cutting a notch in them to make latching the corners easier, H'mm, I think we are comming full circle.

......length is adjustable. Just spin it (them) in the proper direction to lengthen the "reach" of the the latch until proper closure is achieved.

I haven't had a TM since 2005 (2002 2720SL). If the latch design was changed so that it is now not adjustable......never mind.

Well, it looks like I made a newbie mistake, but it worked out OK. After taking Bill's advice to jack up the front and examine the right side roller to make sure I got the correct replacement, I found the left side roller that I thought was missing. The floor extension to support the table on the left hand side had thrown me off, and I couldn't see or reach the roller on that side with my fingers until I jacked up the front.

On the up side, while I had the front up I took the opportunity to clean all the rollers and re-lube them with silicon spray, and the slide does roll much easier now, so the time wasn't wasted and did address my original problem.

Thanks!

Am reading about your slide out "rollers". I thought my 08 2720sl just slid on the aluminum metal attached to the floor on each side. It is interesting to find out about things that are "under the hood" and not in plain site! thanx for the continuing education.
