Default Need hitch advice for new 2720SL with honda odyssey

I've just bought a new 2720sl with swing away hitch, but haven't picked it up yet. I plan to tow with a 2008 Honda Odyssey. I don't have a hitch yet. The Trailmanor site recommends using a "weight distributing hitch". However, the Trailmanor dealer tells me that for the Odyssey, the weight distributing hitch may not be compatible with the swing away hitch. Is it OK if I just use a standard hitch to tow - or do I need some kind of weight distributing mechanism? Thanks.

Welcome aboard! You're gonna love it!

Yes, you need a WDH. Don't try to tow without one.
Yes, as mentioned, you can get a WDH that is compatible with a swing tongue.
This board has many owners who have towed with an Odyssey, usually (though not always) with good success. I suggest you scroll down through the Towing Rigs forum, or do a search on Odyssey. You'll find lots of info.

Yes, yes, yes - a WDH is a must no matter what type of veh you are going to tow with. It will handle better and offer the measure of safety you need. Be sure to get one large enough too - don't go with a cheap one. Welcome and enjoy the TM!!

Yes, WDH.
My 2000 Ody towed very well with a WDH and I have a swing hitch. Frankly, not sure why the dealer suggests that a swing hitch is an issue.
Ody has low center of gravity for a TV and proved very stable. Not overly powerful, but as long as you don't go overboard you should be fine.
I had a Honda dealer add a transmission cooler. Only mod I made to my Ody.

Join the forum, you'll find it is a helpful place to get good answers to your towing and TM questions.
