Default Delicious campfire desert anyone?

I tasted a great dessert last week on a group camp out. Most likely many of you have used the sandwich makers that have long tong-like handles. If you haven't you should try making fruit pie. The round sandwich makers may work better for this than the square ones. Using WHITE bread, fill the center of a slice with pie filling (apple, berry, cherry, or?). Apple tastes even better when sprinkled with cinnamon. Top this section with another piece of WHITE bread and butter both sides. You could sprinkle more cinnamon on the butter. The butter will help toast the bread. Being that the slices of bread are square and the maker is round, remove any bread corners that stick out. Then place in the sandwich maker and close tight. Place into coals in an open fire for about two to four minutes. Halfway through, turn the other side to coals. Eventually you will be able to determine your own recommendation of the time. The sandwich maker will seal the two slices of bread. When directly out of the fire, they are too hot to eat and could burn someone's mouth.
Yummy for the tummy!

Our kids love making the bread fruit pies. We take powder sugar along to sprinkle on them after they are done. The sandwich makers also make good pizza pies. Take your bread put pizza sauce and your filling and cheese inside and another bread oh what a treat after eating brats and hamburgers all weekend while camping.

Wink Banana Splits Campfire Style

We take bananas and split them and leave the peel on around it and stuff marshmallows and chocolate chips inside and wrap it in foil and put it on the campfire and let everything melt and get gooey. It is so yummy.
