Default New tires and wheels

My new to me 2720 already had a lift kit installed ,but had 14 inch wheels, so today I ordered two 15X6 wheels and 225/15 LRD radial trailer tires with high pressure stems. I told them if the tires weren't less than a year old I wouldn't take them. I was assured they would be only months old.
I sure don't want tire problems on the road at 76 Y.O., I don't relish changing tires on the side of the road.
That being said, I am wondering where you are buying TPM's for your tires and the approximate cost.

Any input will be appreciated.

Default Tires and wheels

I just picked up my new 15 inch tires and wheels from Discount Tire. I had ordered LRD tires , but when the wheels came in they didn't have the LRD tires they thought they had so they installed LRE tires on my rims instead. One tire has a date of 2414 and the other 3214 so I should be go to go.
I guess I'll run them at 65 to 70 lbs. of air.
Now all I have to do is put them on!

I'm going to try to post some pictures to show the difference between the 14 and15 in wheels. There isn't a lot of clearance between the tires and the fender skirts.

Well a 195/14 was waaay too small. Hopefully your new wheel is at least 6" wide.

In your original post, you state that you only ordered two tires and wheels, This will be a problem if you ever need to use the spare.

I originally ordered 7 inch wheels, but later changes it to 6 inch. I was afraid the 7's would be too wide. They are 2600 lb. rated wheels.

I will have to address that problem.

Terry -

Whatever that picture is, it is not really a 14" tire and a 15" tire, is it? According to the Goodyear website, their 14" Marathon Load Range C tire has a diameter of 26.6 inches, while their 15" Marathon Load Range D tire has a diamater of 28.1 inches. Less than an inch and a half difference in diameter. The picture appears to show several inches of difference.

The Marathon line doesn't have a Load Range E until you get a 16" tire, and even then, the outer diameter is only 30.7 inches. This still looks smaller than the big tire in your photo. What am I not seeing?

And incidentally, I have to disagree with the thought that a 14" spare is a problem for a trailer retrofitted with 15" wheels. If one of the 15" tires blows, there is no reason not to install a 14" spare in its place. The fact that the trailer is running a tiny bit out of level (less than an inch) is not a big deal. Of course, the mismatch is not something that you would run for a long time - after all, there was a reason that you got rid of the 14's - but you can certainly run it for long enough to get to a tire store. I agree that you don't mismatch tire sizes on a car, but the reasons don't apply to a trailer.

Bill: I remember something saying it was a 195/75R14 which is waaaay too small for a TM but is 3" shorter than a 225/75R15. If so it is not the diameter that is the issue but the load capacity.

Well, maybe in the early EARLY days. But not in 2004. My 2002 had 14" LRC Marathons.
