Sofa
2000 Trailmanor 27/20 SL
I am renovating my camper I got this fall. I would like to take the arms of the sofa out to paint with fabric paint or reupholster. I just can’t seem to figure out how to remove them. There is a flip up table on one side. I am so frustrated. I pretty much tried to take everything apart that I could find a screw for.
Any help would be SO GREATLY appreciated!!

Something has changed. In all three of my 2720SLs, starting with my 2002 model, the arms simply lifted up and out. They weren't attached in any way. They did fit tightly at the ends of the couch, but weren't too hard to lift.
Your photos seem to show that the arms are attached to, or part of, the base unit. They also seem to show that the arms and base have been rebuilt by a previous owner. That makes it hard for me to offer specific advice.
Sorry
Bill

Sofa
Bill
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. I purchased the trailer from my boss, who purchased it new. I have the original bill of sale. I contacted him and he said that no alterations were made on the sofa.. that everything is original. I am perplexed. I slid a metal yard stick between the wall and sofa arms and it slid freely from front to back. There are no screws from the “inside” of the arm securing it to the wall. I also had my very strong son try to pull the arm up after taping with a hammer.
I am doing all the work on my own as my husband has many health issues and cannot assist. So, consequently it is taking much longer as I have to look everything up. Lol.

By the way. My first TM was a 2002 2720SL, and the upholstery was pretty blah. I've not seen the inside of a 2000 model, but the bright figured upholstery says to me that someone did something along the way. The original owner says nothing was done after the trailer left the factory, so perhaps the factory did a one-off? They occasionally did in those days. Maybe someone with a 2000 TM can chime in on the topic of "is the upholstery factory-original?"
You also indicated that there is one flip-up table. By 2002, there were two tables, one on each end. Does this mean anything? I don't know. Are there any screw holes in the wall where a second table would have been?

I had my sofa reupholstered a few years ago. The armrests on my sofa are secured by 2 screws through a long, narrow piece of plywood which extends all the way up the front of the armrest, and are hidden under the fabric. In my case, the fabric was held in place by many staples. It may take some careful looking, but you should be able to find out how the fabric is attached along the left and right front areas of the center skirt. Once those 2 screws are removed you should be able lift up the arm rest.

Kristi- I have the same year and model. I’ll see if I can get out there check it out.
Bill- My project 2720 circa 2000 had that same grandmotherly floral upholstery on the sofa…
