Microwave replacement
We have a 2006 TM 3023 with the microwave option. It's been great, but our shore power GFCI was popping every time we plugged the camper in. The microwave was the culprit. Our microwave was a Sharp R-55TS, which is a microwave with a toaster-type heating element. Does anyone know if this was the original microwave? It is no longer manufactured, so I am leery of buying the same model again. Has anyone swapped in another microwave, and what did you have to do to get it to fit in the cabinet?
Thank you!

Mine also has a Sharp R55TS and has not had any problem. OTOH my shore power does not have a GFCI.

Before you get rid of it, visually inspect the cord and plug for damage. It might be a simple repair.

+1. My shore GFCI would trip every time I plugged the TM in, and a break in the AC power cord and contacting the AC chassis was the culprit. Easy fix.
How have you assessed that the microwave is the culprit? Does the GFCI not trip when the breaker to the microwave is open?

I had the same one. Removed it the last time we were out. It started to get too hot and actually had one thing catch fire. Didn't work again after. I haven't replaced it yet and would be curious to know what you get.

Microwave replacement
I didn't do the troubleshooting. I didn't have time due to work, but I dropped the TM off at a local RV mechanic. They determined the microwave was the culprit. However, after removing the microwave, the TM no longer is creating any problem with the GFCI circuit.
I'll definitely give the microwave a good once-over before I chuck it. Thanks for the advice! I'll also advise if we get a different model and what it takes to install it.

States camped picture
Daveinfl, where did you get the picture of the US with the states colored in? I'd like to track our travels, and that seems like a great way!

Sometimes this can happen when a device is in a constrained cabinet and doesn't get enough cool air exchange to where the electronics are. If it exceeds a particular temperature, components can be damaged or it can go into thermal runaway.

Replacement installed
Due to a family situation and a mouse problem, I haven't been able to take care of replacing the microwave until now... After searching nearly to the ends of the Internet, I couldn't locate a direct replacement unit. Our options were basically to find a microwave that fit the existing cabinet (no toast function but inexpensive and easy) or install a new convection oven/microwave. We had never used the toast function, so we chose the easy route. I couldn't find a microwave bigger than 0.7 cu ft that would fit in the cabinet without a lot of work, so I purchased a Danby Designer unit from Amazon for about $65. Installation was very easy. I'll try to write up an article and post some pictures soon.
