How to change brakes
Repair outside plumbing after blow out

New blog http://tmmaintnenace.blogspot.com/

I am a relatively new owner and have already had 2 blowouts, and just completed replacing brakes. I've posted pictures and general instructions.

Thanks for posting this I am sure this could help someone in the future. I know I am interested in the self adjusting brakes if they have a kit for my 08 model

Looking at your pics it doesn't really look like the two kits are that different? Maybe 2 or three parts are visibly different?

Great instructions on the brake job.

How did you determine which self adjusting brake kit fit your trailer? Thanks!

I think this is the kit you need (left-hand) for the 3500# Torflex axle on recent Trailmanors: http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brak...er/23-468.html

There's also nut and bolts listed on the bottom of the page.

This is a wonderful upgrade for our trailers. I had no idea these kits existed. They're not listed on Dexter's site, nor does their catalogue mention any 3500# axles with self-adjusting brakes.

But I would ditch the wire-nut and solder (or crimp) the wires together.

Thanks to the OP for this info.

-The kits are based on brake size. The 2720SL we have has 10" 2 1/4. There are also other sizes.
-I determined the correct size by calling Dexter and giving them the axel number.
-The kit at e-trailer is the same I purchased from Trailer Parts Superstore for $10 less. -You only need the 4 bolts that are removed from the original brake and are reusable. -You need not buy any thing else. They are listed on DEXTER as well as they are a ..DEXTER product. http://dexteraxle.com/10__brake_assemblies.

Just one more thing:

If your trailer has Dexter's E-Z Lube hubs, like mine does, you should replace the grease seal if the hub is removed, like here, and before trying to squirt grease into it. Otherwise you can force grease onto the brake pads.

One of the got-cha's of the E-Z Lube system ...
