Illusive 30 amp Fuse

I would like to know where the 30 amp fuse that is in the wiring between the converter and the + terminal of the battery is located. I'm very familiar with wiring diagrams and the fuse is clearly indicated there. I have read on some previous threads that it is a glass fuse and to replace it with a flat type one. I looked in the converter area and could not locate it. Since I loomed the charge wire under the TM all the way to the battery but did not come across a fuse holder I'm at a lose . I did the mod that tapped in to the main trailer wire close to the battery and ran a 10 gauge wire, with a in-line 30 amp flat fuse for protection, to get a shorter charge line from the TV, but the inline fuse location between the converter and the battery escapes me.

The fuse should be located within 6 inches of the positive post of the battery, in the main battery wire.

If you don't find one (we have had a couple reports of missing fuses), you should install one there.

Thanks for the quick reply Bill. Well then this is definately a case of the mising fuse on a brand new out of the factory TM. There was a 30 flat type fuse on the wiring from the electric jack in the battery box but there also was a inline glass fuse in series with that, which was real wonky having corrosion in it already, and I got rid of asap. Looks like I will be installing a new fuse holder that I had bought earlier in anticipation. Have to do it this morning as we are leaving on our maiden voyage Saturday morning. Thanks again.

I had the same issue on my TM when it was new. Two fuses in the electric jack and none on the battery. Nuts!

Hmmm...

My dealer told me it was not a TM installed part and that he had to install the fuse holder when they put the battery in, which is also a dealer installed item.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a somewhat similar question.

I have a battery switch that has 4 positions for controlling a pair of 12 volt batteries:

1. Battery A.
2. Battery B
3. both batteries in parallel
4. no batteries.

I put a 30 amp fuse on each battery. That seemed like a reasonable choice.

Is there a better alternative?

Seems ok except when both batteries are in parallel -- at that time your 12v line feed line to the TM is now fused at 60A -- too much!

I think one 30A fuse from the switch to the feed line going to the converter is still needed.

To add, if I may, I have not found an inline fuse connector on my 2009 3023 either. However, i have two 40 amp flat fuses plugged into my fuse box. Could that be where the battery fuse connection is? Thanks.

Mike- No. Those 40A fuses are reverse polarity fuses, they will blow if you hook the battery up backwards so you don’t let the magic smoke out of the converter.

Thanks for clarifying the 40a mystery.

Any suggestions where I should find the inline fuse for the battery? I’ve read folks recommending 30a for 12v. Easy to buy but I haven’t found the holder yet.
