For example, a tongue weight of 500 lbs., coupled with a car trunk load of 200 lbs., equates total hitch weight of 700 lbs. This vehicle-trailer combination would require a 750 weight distributing hitch.Tongue weight should be at least 10% of gross trailer weight.

Sort of explains why 750# or 1000# weight distributing bars are needed for a TrailManor with a factory quoted tongue weight of only 390# dry.
