Default Plastic bed slides, mine have wornout.

Hi, all.

I have a 2001 2720QB. NTU (7/18/2015) and first trip ending today.

I've noticed the rear bunk (queen) pulls out really hard, while the front bunk (full) deploys easily.

Inspecting the area where the rear wall of the box meets the bunk slide, it is metal to metal, while the front bunk has a flat plastic slide at the side and under the bed rail , so it acts like a solid slide bearing surface.

Has anyone else had this problem and what remedy did you use? I'm thinking about fashioning new 'bearings' from High Molecular Density Polyethylene plastic.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

We replaced ours, still holding up well.

I'm sure I posted on this, but can't find it right now.

Thanks for the info. This will get me started, but I also have to replace the slide that supports the bed rail from below, as it is now metal on metal and scraping off tiny 'pigtails' of paint.

Thanks again.

So are you talking about the rub strips that encase the bed supports that fold in and out? I wish that we had the TM here to take pictures of it, but it's still in the body shop.

If you can, please post a picture and I'll tell you how we fixed ours.

Nope. I'm talking about each side of the bunk, where it slides over the edge of the lower box when pulled out or pushed in. I'm redesigning the roller and washer setup for the support arms, so they aren't the issue. I'll try to take a pic and post same. Just started 12 hr night shift rotation tonight, so may be a while.

I am trying to upload a pdf of the instructions for replacing those rub strips in the rear bed. I hope it shows up here.
