Carbon Monoxide Problem
We have a 2006 2720 model that we pull with a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. This model has the LP/CO detector located on the outside of the bathroom wall below the "kitchen" sink. We used the unit in the self-contained mode (no hookups) for the first time last weekend. The fridge was running on propane. The first night out in the middle of the night (of course), the CO detector started beeping and the indicator light was red (not green). Resetting it was to no avail, but it finally went back to the non-alarm condition (green light) when the fridge was turned off. The fridge was relit in the morning. The alarm went off again when the ceiling exhaust fan was turned on and reset when the fan was turned off even though a stove burner was on at the time. The alarm also went off in the middle of the night the second night we were out and reset when the fridge was turned off. The dealer suggested we turn on the fridge fan, but according to the instructions this is really only to prevent heat buildup during DC operation when the unit is folded up. Has anyone else experienced this problem with the CO detector? My impression is that this detector's main intended use is when the furnace runs (we did not use the furnace). There are enough air leaks in the trailer that one probably needn't worry about CO from the refrigerator - so a fix I'm contemplating is an inline switch in the detector power wiring so I can turn the &^%%^!! thing off when we're not using the furnace! Any helpful comments would be appreciated!

We have an older TM so this may be a different problem from what we've experienced. The only time ours has gone off is (1) the battery was very low (very annoying, there's not much you can do about it except pull the fuse, if you can find it) or (2) the guy next to us was warming up his truck in a campsite next to us and there was so much exhaust that it set off the alarm.
Do you know how charged the battery was when this happened?

See our questions under the Electrical heading. It has the number of a very helpful person at MTI, Safe T Alert. You can also email MTI by finding Safe-T-Alert on the web. They answered me very quickly.

The batteries were fully charged. This was only the second time we've used the triler since we bought it. There were no other CO sources in the vicinity. The CO indicator light was green when not in alarm mode, but the LP light was not illuminated at all. Wonder if the detector unit is bad? I'll follow up on the MTI lead. Thanks!

Problem solved (probably!)
This is a follow-up FYI for all you high altitude campers. After experiencing CO detector alarms while running our fridge on propane at 10,500 ft. I subsequently ran the fridge on propane for 2 days in my driveway with no alarms. We live at 7,000 ft. Suspecting an altitude problem with incomplete combustion, I called our dealer and learned that there is a high altitude modfication kit for our fridge. It's on order and I suspect it will fix this problem. Now as to why the dealer didn't mention this when we bought our unit (since we do live in Colorado), I couldn't tell you!

If you need a high altitude kit for the fridge, don't you also need one for each of the other gas appliances?
