Default 2010 Frontier large enough?

I have been looking at the 2720 and 3023 models and would like to make sure my tow vehicle is going to be able to tow these easily. I have a 2010 Frontier with a V6 4.0L with a tow package. Thanks for your feedback.

With a tow rating of 6500 lbs, you should be fine. As with any vehicle, you just need to know how much gear you can carry when towing, watch the numbers. Have fun with the TM !!

The tow specs indicate either 6300 or 6500lbs depending on whether it's a 4x4 or 4x2 respectively with the proper tow package to include 7 way trailer plug, transmission cooler, and class 3 or better receiver unit.

Like everybody says, your Nissan's tow capacity is fine.

But if you intend to carry a *lot* of stuff/people in or on the Nissan (as well as tow your trailer), you will probably want to calculate what your payload will be and add ~500-600# tongue weight for the trailer. Add that to the Nissan's empty curb weight and see how close you are to its GVWR. Like that Nissan towing guide says, you probably don't want to exceed the vehicle's GVWR. (Alternatively, load everything up and measure the GVW on a scale.)

Many people don't exceed their vehicle's GVWR. But we did, and it came as a total surprise. Our old Tacoma's GVWR was exceeded by 350-500#. The trailer's 620# tongue weight didn't help, but we were also carrying kayaks and bikes and lots of other junk.

This may sound impossible, but I have been about to load my Chevy 1500HD (crew cab with 6.5 foot bed) so full that I was not able to remove the wheel from the bottom of the TM front jack.

My solution was to get a larger truck.

Two motorcycles, 30 gallons of gas, tools, spare parts, plus all the other stuff I always carried anyway just made it sag a little too much.

So far, I don't recall anyone one around here reporting that they carry more weight than I do. So you will quite likely be alright. Just don't go thinking it ain't possible to overload.

I tow my 2720SL with a 2011 Frontier with no problems. Sometimes I even forget the camper is behind me. My only complaint is I can't really find any tow mirrors that fit on the truck . . Any suggestions?

I think I have tried all of the mirrors! None are great, but these are the best of the bunch http://www.etrailer.com/Mirrors/CIPA/11650.html I have no way of knowing if they fit your truck, but it would be hard to image that they wouldn't. Hope that helps.

If you go with the 3023 you will definitely need a weight distribution hitch. A class III hitch has a 500 tongue limit UNLESS you use a WDH, then it goes over 1000 lbs. You will also like the handling a lot better. Well spent addition. I do not know the weights of the other models but you need to consider tongue weight as a primary issue on a class III hitch.
