Default Carbon Monoxide Problem

We have a 2006 2720 model that we pull with a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. This model has the LP/CO detector located on the outside of the bathroom wall below the "kitchen" sink. We used the unit in the self-contained mode (no hookups) for the first time last weekend. The fridge was running on propane. The first night out in the middle of the night (of course), the CO detector started beeping and the indicator light was red (not green). Resetting it was to no avail, but it finally went back to the non-alarm condition (green light) when the fridge was turned off. The fridge was relit in the morning. The alarm went off again when the ceiling exhaust fan was turned on and reset when the fan was turned off even though a stove burner was on at the time. The alarm also went off in the middle of the night the second night we were out and reset when the fridge was turned off. The dealer suggested we turn on the fridge fan, but according to the instructions this is really only to prevent heat buildup during DC operation when the unit is folded up. Has anyone else experienced this problem with the CO detector? My impression is that this detector's main intended use is when the furnace runs (we did not use the furnace). There are enough air leaks in the trailer that one probably needn't worry about CO from the refrigerator - so a fix I'm contemplating is an inline switch in the detector power wiring so I can turn the &^%%^!! thing off when we're not using the furnace! Any helpful comments would be appreciated!
