Default Looking at a 2002 3023

Hello, I'm looking into getting a 2002 3023 that is for sale near me for only $1000. The Owner said that the roof needed to be resealed and the interior painted, so I have some concerns about leaks obviously. I have found some threads about how to check and see if it is a wood or an aluminum frame, but I wanted to see if there were other things I should really be looking out for. For $1000 I'm willing to deal with some issues, but at the same time I don't have a ton of time to tear everything apart and rebuild it, nor will my wife be happy with something like that. I plan to go over the pre purchase checklist that was listed on here, but that was not specific to TMs, so I didn't know if anyone with a similar year would have some insight for me. Thanks!

Look at the arch of the roof, make sure it the roof does not sag in the middle or is even from side wall to side wall.

When inside, remove the plastic covering trim from the roof vent/fan and you will be able to see the foam, look for rust and other signs of water entry.

I actually went and took a closer look at it on Friday after posting and I think I'm gonna pass on it. There was some damage to the outer shell that had punctured the aluminum and exposed the foam, the door was actually a little open so I was able to stick me head in and look around and the inside just looks torn to pieces. I don't think this one was really looked after at all, and I don't have the time to do a full on rebuild of it.

I think you made a wise decision. We recently sold our 2003 model 3023 which was well used and weathered on the outside, well used on the inside but well maintained with no damage or leaks like you described. Everything working with the upgrade flush toilet installed. We felt very lucky to get $3K for it.
